New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

By day, she's the Accessories Market Assistant at Teen Vogue, but by night, Danielle Prescod channels her inner ballerina by working with famed trainer Mary Helen Bowers. She recommends KD Dance, a shop on Lafayette Street where she stocks up on dance gear that keeps her comfortable while pirouetting through 4 Times Square.

I fancy myself some sort of wannabe ballerina. So when I started taking dance classes again and working out with Natalie Portman's Black Swan trainer, Mary Helen Bowers at Ballet Beautiful, I definitely needed the wardrobe to match my newfound hobby. Mary Helen recommended this store to me for dance warm-ups, but as soon as I saw how luxe this cashmere was, I decided to work it into my civvies as well. The cotton is amazingly soft with just the right amount of stretch and the sweaters are 100% cashmere at to-die-for prices. Everything in this store is perfect for layering. I love when I can wear something in more than one way, and everything from KD Dance helps to keep me warmed up in ballet class and super chic in the office!
