Let's face it: Missoni for Target turned out to be a nightmare for most, and things are looking pretty dismal for all of the delayed (see: canceled) orders. Since regular Missoni is still really expensive, Madison Avenue Spy has rounded up some alternatives to the collab in the form of discounted Missoni.
Over at the new Century 21 on the UWS, there are silk scarves for $40 to $120, larger wool ones for $100 to $180, plus rainboots for $120—about $30,000 cheaper than a pair listed on eBay by a woman who is trying to pay for her daughter's tuition with them.
She reports that Filene's Basement in Union Square is "stocked" with Missoni, and items range in price from $80 to $700. Knit sweaters are $360, silk printed tops and sweaters are $300, and some gowns are $600. The cheapest things? Regular socks for $40 and knee-highs for $80, and she also notes that these discounts will soon be further discounted.
T.J. Maxx all the way up on Columbus Avenue at 99th Street has "enough M by Missoni to make your mind zig-zag." Most of the dresses are priced at $230 and long cardigans are $200. But, she warns, "We suggest opting for the dresses that are part-knit and part-print so that your new purchase will never be confused with a mega-store collab."
And last but not least, if you wanted home goods from Missoni x Target besides the bedspreads (the only items no one seemed to care about), you can head over to DDC on Madison Avenue at 34th Street, which is having its biannual Missoni Home sale, with discounts of 15% to 30% off. For more stuff for your home, head over to Milan Luxury on Broome Street, which has sheet sets for $389, pillowcases for $89 to $118, large bath towels for $130, and small ones starting at just $39.
