At London's two-year-old Tweed Run, fashionable bike enthusiasts don their best 1930s and 1940s ensembles for a ten-mile ride through the city. This year, Ralph Lauren's younger, slightly edgier brand Rugby is transplanting the action to Manhattan. On October 15, riders in bow ties and hacking jackets will ride from the Village to Brooklyn, taking necessary tea breaks along the way. The course will end in a party replete with gin (the tweediest of the hard alcohols) where prizes will be awarded for achievements like Best Vintage Bicycle.
Check out the gallery above for images from 2010's Tweed Run in London. Bikers who want to participate should sign up here, while those who appreciate the fashion element but don't want a workout can buy silk scarves, flasks, and saddles from the Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run collection.
