The enduring lines outside Ladurée might make it seem like macarons are the new cupcake, but inside Bloomingdale's, it's a different story. WWD reports that the bakery's first weekend at the 59th Street department store was a resounding success. Between Friday and Sunday, the space sold 1,200 classic cupcakes at $3 a pop. Red velvet cupcakes ($3.50) did nearly as well, as did the banana pudding. This isn't actually the first Magnolia in a Bloomingdale's location—there's also one in Dubai.
