The Barneys Warehouse Sale is still going strong. As of yesterday afternoon, it was quite packed despite the news that it has been extended another two days. Also, the first markdowns have started: Shoes and accessories are currently 40% off. The discount is taken at the register, so don't let the marked price fool you.
Let's start with shoes. We found Lanvin, Rodarte, Jill Sander, and even a few Manolos marked from $219 to $799. There were many Co-op styles, especially in the boot department. We couldn't locate any Chloé, but look for Opening Ceremony. Those gold wedges by Nicholas Kirkwood x Rodarte were still there, and still pricey.
The majority of the bag bins were filled with Botkier and Co-Op labels. No Miu Miu. However, we unearthed a few rare treasures: Alexander Wang bags for about $230 (originally $675). The jade stingray square trunk mini bag comes in a beautiful white leather and a metallic color, both with stingray highlights on the front. What a steal!
As for ready-to-wear, be prepared to sift through tightly-packed racks to find anything. We discovered a Jeffery Monteiro little black dress for $239 and a Rag & Bone jacket for $259. The size small coat rack was very sparse; hopefully they will restock soon.
The designer section (noted by a red star on the price tag) was really being shopped today. We were even shoved a few times. Spotted: Lots of Nina Ricci dresses ranging from $600 to $759. We fell in love with a gorgeous Rodarte dress marked at $2299. A girl can dream, can't she?
The Imperfects section was 60% off, but most of the items had a broken zipper or stained. Our verdict: So not worth it. The denim was only 25% off, but you can never go wrong with J Brand skinny jeans.
When to expect the next round of price cuts: An inside source says this weekend, but wasn't told which day yet. Check back and we'll let you know. Happy shopping!—Danielle Desmond
