Fashion Week garners a high level of public interest, but it's not a public event. That can make things awkward for anyone who wants to capitalize on the glamor and excitement of the week for a non-industry audience. You can either acknowledge the closed-off nature of the party, which isn't very fun, or you can pretend that every single person in your readership/viewership/consumer base is a fashion editor, which isn't very realistic. This go-around, Forever 21 chose the latter route, decorating its store windows with a "Fashion Week Color Guide." Friday, apparently, is purple fishnets day. Now you know.
