To celebrate its 50th anniversary and related makeover, Daffy's will throw itself a cake-themed birthday party in Herald Square next Thursday, September 22. After a runway show in which models strut down a "cakewalk," everyone on hand will be treated to actual cake and a discount at the Herald Square store. Comedian Heather McDonald, a Chelsea Lately regular, will host, and best of all, Staten Island Cakes star Vincent Buzzeta will bake a ten-foot-tall layer cake for the occasion. That picture up there is the rendering. (That's right, this cake is a significant enough architectural structure that it comes with a rendering.) It all goes down at 5pm at Greeley Square on West 32nd Street and Broadway.
