With & Wessel, the brainchild of Norwegian husband-and-wife duo Catherine Wessel and Stian Tolnaes, is a little piece of Scandinavia in Nolita. The store soft-opened last Thursday on Fashion's Night Out. Inside, a new birchwood smell fills the space thanks to white birch floors and actual trees bookending the racks. Such an iceberg-clean aesthetic makes the 100% wool clothing—perfect for layering, delicate to touch, and easy on the environment—feel all the more cozy. The only missing elements are a wood burning stove and a cup of hot cocoa (and the weather that would warrant both of those things).
The store houses both men and women's t-shirts, tank tops, and sweaters in stripes or neutrals, along with $35 briefs for men and dresses for ladies starting at $120. A particularly versatile black drop-waist tube dress that converts into a high-waist skirt when scrunched down will run you $175, while most of the super comfy t-shirts begin at $110.—Kenzie Bryant
