Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Intermix definitely plans to make the most out of its new, High Line-adjacent location. The two-story, 2,500-square-foot space takes a luxe-industrial cue from the tourist walkway, mixing metal ceiling art and chunky wood fixtures with high-end touches like posh purple couches. The elevated park's steel structure even operates as a design element, just in case anyone forgets that there's a reclaimed railroad overhead.
Tourists should appreciate the selection, which includes the best of Intermix: Trendy but easy-to-wear labels like DVF, Helmut Lang, and Rag & Bone. But the store's sheer size and volume make this worth a drop-by for locals, too. There's a reason BlackBook calls it "Intermix’s most ambitious boutique to date."
