Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Something we will be watching tomorrow at noon: ESPN host Alain de Cadenet and celebrities such as Tyson Beckford, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and Jason Lee riding motorcycles up Third Avenue on the last stop for Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research.
The seven-day East Coast journey is ending with quite the bang. 160 motorcycles will be ripping through the city, and other festivities will be taking place at the Kiehl's flagship store, including music by Paul Sevingy, SPiN's seemingly ubiquitous ping-pong tournaments, cupcakes from Magnolia, and 15% off of purchases made that day. Jeffery Costello and Robert Tagliapietra are on the bill as "additional VIP guests," which we assume means they won't be riding the bikes. Too bad.
In addition to all that brouhaha, plenty of the Kielh's limited-edition Ultra Facial Cream will be on hand, of which 100% of net profits up to $25,000 are donated to amfAR. So you'll know it when you see it:
