As part of its relentless march on Manhattan, 7-11 will be opening on the Bowery in October. The chain plans to install its Slurpee machines in the retail space at 351 Bowery, which has a tumultuous history for such a new building. After spending a good chunk of the Great Recession gathering dust, the space opened as a flea market called Bowery Bazaar. When that fizzled, it was rebranded as Boutiques on the Bowery, but that closed too. We hate to say it, but suburban-style packaged snacks might have more staying power. Look for the chain to open October 5.
