Because it was bound to happen, tattoo shop Citizen Ink Studios in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, has been serving up "Survived the Quake" tattoos after Tuesday's tremors. The NYDN reports that parlor owner Joe Khay sketched the design in five minutes (can you tell?) and then posted it on Facebook. One of the store's regulars, 21-year-old Jonathan Berg, called up to have it done for the mere price of $30.
His account of the experience: "It was just a minor thing, and people were making it into a serious subject. I thought that was pretty hilarious." Well, an earthquake is a serious subject, but we'll give it to him that the general reaction of New York was pretty hilarious, seeing as the most dramatic thing to happen was the evacuation of the Red Hook Ikea.
