Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Major change in the oft-neglected home section of the Barneys Warehouse Sale: The housewares have been moved over to the back left corner of the ground floor. They might still be ignored there, but at least shoppers will be able to see the goods while they're digging in the designer section for Altuzarra deals.
The section was probably about a quarter of the way stocked as we perused, but from the items out on the floor, it seemed as though this sale has more in the way of adult furniture—as opposed to the children's variety (remember those cute little chairs from a couple sales back?) Or maybe staffers just hadn't unloaded the cheap kids' stuff and off-season holiday décor yet.
If you're looking for random fancy furniture items, there is a stingray-feeling glass coffee table ($2242 from $3450), a Cygnet white round coffee table ($147), a wooden and wicker dining chair ($925 from $1199), and a tall side table with small drawers ($899 from $1800). There are also full sets of glassware, including Saint Louis antique-style crystal champagne glasses (like those thrifted ones that cocktail dens use) priced at $97 (from $170) each and Rogaska wine glasses priced at $27 (from $55) each.
The Fish Design by Gaetano Pesce dynamic resin vases kind of blew our minds. They look like they're created out of blown glass, but then you touch one and it's all wobbly and jelly-like! The vases weren't tagged yet, but the original price of a small bowl is about $279. There are a couple Jonathan Adler fondue sets priced at $49 (from $90) and we admired the coolest looking stainless steel teapot ever for $169.
We're still holding out for the kids' and holiday bargains, so we'll let you know how things turn out. Also, remember to check back bright and early for the line blog first thing tomorrow morning.
