In today's edition of nonsensical store openings: Spencer Gifts, a favorite of suburban malls across the country, is coming to Noho. This will be the chain's first location in Manhattan, but did you know that there's already one in the Queens Center mall? You could have been buying things like this for years now! Thankfully, the Spencer's brand has decided to open up a shop downtown, making the hunt for new beer bong paddles or keychains that make noise far more convenient.
Spencer's will open up at 691 Broadway sometime before the holidays, in the former home of vintage clothing store Andy's Chee-Pees. DNAinfo notes that the location is a pretty good one: "The 1,800-square-foot space is in prime NYU country, between West Third and West Fourth streets, close to college student favorites Urban Outfitters and American Apparel." As if New York City doesn't already have enough distractions for our city's college-bound youth.
