For the younger customers of Bergdorf Goodman who have the luxury of shopping there for a cocktail dress—or any other dressy dress a youngin' may need— there's a brand new, more refined area on the fourth floor that will make the experience that much more luxurious. Where there used to be just one designer eveningwear spot there's now two, the second of which opened this month.
The original shop has been tailored to highlight formal, floor-length gowns, and the new room is geared toward the store's younger customers, something that seems to be happening a lot these days. Elizabeth Hui, Bergdorf's vice president and divisional merchandise manager for advanced and couture designer collections, says, "It's our nightclub room for festive, fun party clothes for the younger customer who doesn't want to go over the top with a gown."
WWD reports that over-the-top does not include a $6,990 J. Mendel deco laser cut pony dress in tulle, a specific Marchesa destination with exclusive pieces, and other numbers from Monique Lhuillier and Naeem Khan, which are all stocked in the new space. There's also lots of beveled mirrors, Lucite fixtures, and a gilded wall, so really all of the proper components of a nightclub once you factor in those dresses.
