The FNO app via Fashion's Night Out
Three years in, Fashion's Night Out is starting to feel like an institution. We've all learned to expect celebrities, giveaways, and gimmicks, but 2011 should still contain a few surprises. For one thing, as we found out back in April, Anna Wintour's worldwide shopping party now includes e-commerce sites. This time around, the organizers are also offering an FNO NYC Guide app for iPhone and Android, which should make navigating the streets a little bit easier.
Other events of note: Bergdorf is holding a designer dog show, live music in the windows, and a facial hair discussion moderated by menswear expert Glenn O’Brien. Bendel's has paired with the Hester Street Fair for an indoor street festival featuring an "FNO-inspired exclusive ice cream sandwich flavor" (tastes like spending!) Christian Louboutin also has FNO exclusives: An embellished heel and a matching cross-body bag. Oak is throwing a '70s-themed party. And Bloomingdale's, Lord and Taylor, Macy's, and Saks Fifth Avenue will all offer the chance to meet a plethora of fashion celebs, including Rachel Zoe at Bloomie's and the fabulously weird Tilda Swinton at Saks.
The FNO website has plenty of other party plans, with even more scheduled to appear as September 8th approaches. Need more help deciding how to spend your evening? As always, we'll be breaking down the best (and worst) options in our annual Guide to Fashion's Night Out.
