This worked out pretty well. A shoplifter who tried to steal $225 worth of sneakers from a Sketchers in Astoria, Queens, was nabbed by one of the workers on strike next door at Verizon. John Smith, a 30-year-old employee of Verizon who was outside picketing yesterday, grabbed the woman after seeing a Sketchers employee try to chase her, and held her down until the police showed up.
