As evidenced by the number of toddlers in fancy restaurants and babies in bars, New York City has become quite child friendly. So the soon-to-be unveiled Beehives and Buzzcuts, a higher-end full-service salon catering only to children, is very timely indeed. Opening in a few months across from Stuyvesant Town, Beehives and Buzzcuts will offer not only hair cuts, but also manicures and pedicures for the little ones.
The future interior of a former check cashing outfit (oh, how the neighborhood has changed..) sounds like a kid's wonderland of fun. The salon chairs will be in the forms of yellow cabs and fire trucks (always a hit with the kiddies), plus each styling station will have its own distracting flat screen TV. Beehives and Buzzcuts will also be available for kids' parties and performances. Even though owner Karolyn Massey says, "I don't plan to have it be like that show Toddlers & Tiaras", we can already picture New York moms excitedly planning their toddler's first mani and pedi soirée.
