VPL designer Victoria Bartlett is hosting a blowout vintage sale in the store's Soho boutique, and she's teamed up with stylist Polina Aronova, photographer Mitra Farahmand, and it-girl Arden Wohl to offer some serious vintage finds. Sample Sally and Madison Avenue Spy were on hand to take a look at the goods ahead of time before the sale officially kicks off today.
They were pleased to announce that this isn't your grandmother's vintage: Sample Sally reports that there are Chanel purses starting at $1,650, an Hermès bucket bag for $2,000, and finds from Vivienne Westwood (like a Red Label jacket for $5,000), and $100-and-under shoes from Manolo and Marni. Madison Avenue Spy spotted a Louis Vuitton carry-all for $1,200 and even a hat worn by Madonna in a music video.
Contemporary pieces were around as well, including Helmut Lang jeans for under $100 and a pair of Alexander Wang shoes for $110. Similar in theory to the Bird closet sale, the merchandise on hand is all from Bartlett and friends, who—if the above items weren't enough proof—probably have the kinds of closets that dreams are made of.
The sale begins today and ends tomorrow, in the backroom of the VPL store in Soho at 5 Mercer Street. Hours are from 11am to 7pm, so there's plenty of time to take a long lunch or an after-work trip to check it out.
