New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Whitney Pozgay graduated college with a degree in theater, with a focus on costume design. From there, she planted down at Kate Spade designing accessories. Pozgay gradually took on bigger ventures, such as, over seeing Spade's collaboration with the avant garde collective Three Asfour. She jumped ship and landed at Steven Alan, where she acted as the lead womenswear designer. Recently, Pozgay ventured off onto her own, and set up WHIT, her line of throw-on-and-go separates that explore inspirations from throughout her career. When she's kicking it in Williamsburg, MC & Co. is her go-to destination, especially for those out-of-the-blue wedding gifts.

I am a big fan of MC & Co in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is a little further down North 6th Street than many of the other stores in the neighborhood, and the unassuming storefront often goes unnoticed. And to me, it is definitely a special gem of a shop. The store is incredibly well curated with clever and offbeat artwork, gorgeous jewelry, and decadent housewares. Every item they sell is beautifully designed and unique. I always feel inspired just being in the space. It is such a great place for an unexpected wedding present or a housewarming gift, though, I want pretty much everything in there for myself. It's a must see when in Williamsburg.
