In a very long article published yesterday by the Times, the argument of whether fashion counts as museum art was analyzed for five Internet pages. With the recent success of the Met's Savage Beauty, international fashion exhibitions for YSL, Chanel, and Balenciaga, and even Daphne Guinness' latest string of artsy stunts, there are people on both sides of the fence. In short, it comes down to this: "Is fashion really so exhibition worthy? And, more importantly, are there explicit standards by which the various shows should be judged?" [NYT]
