Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Straight from the West Coast comes a shining beacon of hope for the hair-challenged: L.A.'s celeb hotspot Drybar, a no-cut, no-color "anti-salon" offering only $40 blowouts, is coming to New York in September. California "blow dry maven" Alli Webb will bring her blow dry bar concept to West 16th Street in September, followed shortly thereafter by a location inside Midtown's Le Parker Meridien Hotel. The market for blow dry bars in the Big Apple isn't totally empty: New York-based Blow opened in Meatpacking in 2005, although it is full service and a bit on the pricier side. Drybar will offer five variations on the signature blowout as well as $28 styles for those aged 10 and under and $80 up-dos.—Lauren Budorick
