Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
WILLIAMSBURG—One-for-one eyewear brand Warby Parker has a great concept (basically, it's Toms shoes for glasses), but right now you can only shop online. That should be remedied pretty soon when the brand opens its first NYC store, but in the meantime, Bird in Williamsburg is offering a temporary solution: A shop-in-shop launching next week. Stop by on Wednesday the 27th from 6pm to 9pm for Prosecco, snacks, DJing by Justine D, and the chance to try on about 165 styles of sunglasses and optical frames. [Racked Inbox]
FACEBOOK—The Rihanna contest entries are rolling in on Facebook! Again, the challenge was to rewrite the chorus to a Rihanna song with lyrics about skincare and post it on Nivea's Facebook wall tagged "#racked." The writer of the best song gets two tickets to see Rihanna this Thursday night. Our favorite entry so far: "S.P.F. please someone help me/It's not healthy... for me to feel this fried/S.U.N. is making this hard/My skin's flaking, see it don't look right." Which is so much better than our first try: "Oh na na, where's my soap?" [Facebook]
