Rumormongering: Brooklyn Walmart

Allegedly, real estate group Related Companies is in "advanced lease negotiations" with Walmart (as well as JCPenny) for the Gateway II shopping center in southeast Brooklyn. Walmart-location rumors have previously included Herald Square, Midtown, and even another part of southeast Brooklyn, so who knows if it'll happen. But even though they have yet to gain entry, Walmart is being a bit choosy on its potential first store. Spokesperson Steven Restivo says: "We still have not signed any leases anywhere in the city. We continue to evaluate opportunities across the five boroughs." [Real Deal]
