Along with an excited crowd of preview day shoppers (i.e., people who paid $5 to shop a day early), Sample Sally made her way through masses of handbags at the Gryson sale last night. The most intriguing tidbit: There are (were?) $20 bag bins—mostly Nanette Lepore samples and overstock, and—from the sounds of things—probably pretty plundered by today.
There looks to be a plethora of handbags, totes, clutches, cross-bodies in solids, patterns (we spy ikat), leather, canvas and two-tone combos. Price-wise, Sally reports on a random mix of Nanette Lepores and others priced at a very reasonable $60 and $85, plus the diffusion Olivia Harris line priced at $75 for clutches and $175 for larger messenger, totes and handbags. The mainline Gryson pieces were more expensive, running to $325 (from $895) for the Isla shoulder bag. The best Gryson deals rang in at $150 for styles tagged with yellow ribbons. The sale runs through tomorrow, but if you're in the market for a bag deal, you might want to stop by today to delve into the remains of the $20 bin.
