LES Runway is one part fashion show and one part pop-up shop, and if it gets funded, it'll be arriving downtown for the entire month of September. Founded by LES resident and fashion-industry veteran Cheryl Maleh, the month-long event will feature weekend fashion shows combined with a retail space at Grand Opening on 139 Norfolk Street, all in an effort to showcase local designers from New York's five boroughs.
As of now, a Kickstarter campaign is in place to secure some funding, and about a fourth of the $8,500 goal has been reached. If you're a budding designer, pledging at least $12 gets your application in there as one of the designers to be featured in the project. (Or then there's the $650 pledge, which gets you a Domestic Holding leather bag and four tickets to Best in Show.) Details for all amounts in between that are here.
Have a look at the video to learn a little bit more about the event and to watch Cheryl take a nice, leisurely walk downtown.
