Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

SOHO—This Sunday, June 5th, Housing Works will be throwing the fifth annual Open Air Street Fair on Crosby Street, right behind the Book Store Cafe. For the uninitiated, the highlights of this al fresco shopping event include thousands of one dollar books, CDs and vinyl and the fabulous buffet of $20 "all-you-can-stuff" bags of clothing and shoes. Plus, neighbor Puck Fair will be serving Six Point Craft Ale and Van Leeuwen will be on hand to scoop out ice cream. Per usual, this bargain drunk shopping extravaganza will benefit homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS. The festivities run from 10am to 6pm, so get your thrifting skills ready. PROSPECT PARK—Speaking of outdoor summer shopping, New York-based Etsy posse The {NewNew} are the new official vendor for the 2011 season of Celebrate Brooklyn! in Prospect Park. Look out for crafty, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, tanks, tees, toys, paper items, spa products, you name it from these local independent designers and artists. The season kicks off on Friday, June 10th with a free performance by Andrew Bird, a whistling and violin-wielding lyricist. If you can't make it that night, don't worry—the season runs through August 11th. [Racked Wire]
