Steven Alan's new his-and-hers stores on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill are open for business, and Carroll Gardens Patch took a look inside. The original location of Alan's Atlantic Avenue shop, located several steps below street level at 349 Atlantic, now exclusively carries menswear. Next door, the light, airy space 347 Atlantic—which used to house Jodi Arnold—is devoted entirely to the ladies.
The arrangement is a bit of a departure for the brand, but they seem to be having fun with it, even installing a record player on the men's side for added ambiance. As a commenter pointed out when we first broke the news of the split, though, there's one major element lost in the new set-up, and that's the potential to flirt while you're shopping. We're guessing the women's store will soon seen an uptick in men browsing "for their sisters" and vice versa.
