Oscar de la Renta is getting an office upgrade. In addition to giving the employees more "elbow room," the new space on West 42nd Street will host the brand's future runway shows, in an effort to make them more personal and eliminate those 300 people "who have no real relation to your business." De la Renta reminisces on the glory days of having less money—"When I started showing my clothes, we would have six models who brought their own shoes and did their own hair and makeup"—and plans to cut out those "megashows" by just doing them in his office.
