Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We haven't made it down to the Devi Kroell sample sale yet—we were busy basking in the silence at Thakoon—but our friends Madison Avenue Spy and Mizhattan sure did. Madison Ave Spy reports that the bags were snatched up first thing, but she did say that the staff mentioned another shipment should be arriving from their Las Vegas store this afternoon. Before they were gone, though, prices for the bags started as low as $75 and ranged up to $800 for the exotic skins that are normally over $3,000. Mizhattan spotted two python hobos for $600, which were most likely gone by the time she finished snapping pictures.

We're told that the sale more than lived up to its claims of hitting 80% off. Madison Avenue Spy reports that ready-to-wear samples are priced at only $50 and that overstock pieces can range up to $250. For an idea on overstock pricing, Mizhattan stumbled upon a black tweed jacket for $200 (originally $2,150) and a champagne-colored sweater for $100 (originally $890). She adds, "One of the employees said that there would be a small inventory replenishment," so we suggest moving fast since the sale ends tomorrow.

If you're a sample-shoe size 37, you're in luck. Both sites report that there was an abundance of size 37s to be had, starting at $50 for shoes and $100 for boots. Got feet that are bigger or smaller? You'll have to pay at least $100 for the overstock shoes and $250 for overstock boots, but that's still only a fraction of the original prices, especially when those prices occasionally hit the $2,000 mark.

Madison Avenue Spy also mentions that the selection of "dramatic mink hats" ($250) weren't causing any commotion among shoppers. ("Maybe everyone is still trying to forget about old man winter.")

Here's a bunch of close-up photos of the goods if you're still not convinced. The sale is at 55 Fifth Avenue on the 17th Floor and runs until 7:30 pm today and 5 pm tomorrow.
