Do we feel slightly creepy salivating over Bird owner Jennifer Mankins's personal clothing collection? Yup. Are we going to stop? Nope. Mankins, a standard-bearer for Brooklyn style, is staging another major closet sale on May 18, just under two weeks from today. Last time around, we found pieces from Dries van Noten, Phillip Lim, and Vena Cava for under $75, plus a Rag & Bone trench for $150, a Mayle coat for $350, and Rachel Comey booties for all of fifty bucks. This time, the selection of barely- or never-worn clothes and accessories includes Lim, Dries, and Comey as well as Isabel Marant and Tsumori Chisato. Sizing should be surprisingly varied, although last time the shoes were all 37-38.
In addition to deals from Mankins's only closet, shoppers can get 20% off all the full-price seasonal merchandise in the store. Any stalkerish awkwardness should be mitigated by free wine, although last time the buying was so frantic that nobody seemed to pause to drink. Go on the early side, because it all happens pretty fast: Hours are from 5pm to 8pm at Bird's Cobble Hill location on the corner of Smith and Butler.
