The forecast for this week: More rain and more sales. The Tracy Reese sample and overstock sale kicks off this week's retail deluge tomorrow morning with $50 Tracy Reese samples and $35 Frock! and Plenty samples. We dropped by the press preview earlier just to get an idea of what's in store and help you navigate tomorrow's madness.
Don't fear the preview hordes, ladies. Staffers today indicated that they will replenish with plenty (har har) more samples—their exact words included something about "tons in the back." So head to the right of the sale the second you enter to find four racks of mostly dresses along with some knits, tops and bottoms. Highlights included the super cute and fruity Sheena denim dress from Frock! (originally $238), an electric blue bejeweled mini-caftan (retailing $395), the black version of this lace applique maxi dress (retailing $525), and an autumn-hued belted maxi (retailing at $358). Tracy Reese samples fit anywhere from size zero to four, which is pretty generous for sample pieces.
As for the overstock items, which are plentiful, they range from size zero to twelve and petite to large. The items are all organized by size and feature tons of cheerful prints, bold hues, intricate embellishments and a variety of lengths to keep everyone happy. The best deals fall within the dresses, with Tracy Reese ones running $150 each and frock! and Plenty numbers for $99 each. Additional pricing includes Tracy Reese tops and skirts for $110, Frock! and Plenty tops for $75, and Frock! and Plenty skirts and shorts for $70.
There are also sample runway heels and platforms priced at $50, but they're all size 40, so they're not for everyone. Kind of a bummer since we picked up brand new python kitten-heel oxfords last time around for the same price, but oh well.
The designated fitting area sits in a totally visible, windowed meeting space, but the thought is nice, right? A word of caution: Watch where you set your dresses down because there's white paint dust on some of the surface areas. Cash and credit are both accepted and there's also a bag check when you enter.
