While exploring the new Milly store during its opening party last night, we noticed that the line's chic, colorful accessories were displayed on shelves in front of classic record album by the likes of Sergio Mendes and The Sex Pistols. And that exemplifies what we love about Milly's designs: They combine elegant, sophisticated lines and bright colors, with a cool, fun, vintage vibe.
News reporters like MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough and CNN's Poppy Harlow mingled with socialites and Milly designer Michelle Smith at the packed opening of the Upper East Side store— Milly's first in America. The shop offers the full Milly lifestyle for fans of the brand. Not only is the complete women's ready-to-wear line for sale, but newer additions like brightly colored handbags (we fell in love with one in Milly's signature watermelon pink), bold statement jewelry, and the adorable new Mini Milly's childrenswear collection are all available.
There's even a small bridal salon located off the main space. There, Milly-loving brides can purchase both full-length wedding gowns and shorter reception dresses from the designer's new capsule collection.
Although more people were sipping champagne than shopping to help raise money for the opening's associated charity, the Central Park Conservatory's Playground Partners, those who did buy garments received a special perk. Dresses were wrapped in the store's adorable watermelon-and-white lattice-pattern garment bags. We're told they come free with purchase, but we'd easily have bought one—they were that cute.
