Reps from Dylan's Candy Bar have categorically denied that the sweets shop plans to open on the Upper West Side, despite yesterday's New York Post story claiming that owner Dylan Lauren signed a lease for five consecutive storefronts on Amsterdam Avenue. On Twitter yesterday afternoon, the brand Tweeted that the Upper East Side flagship will remain their only New York location. They reiterated that message on their Facebook page, adding a plug for new stores in Miami and on the West Coast.
DNAinfo might have found the source of the confusion. According to their investigation, the block of Amsterdam Avenue between W.78th and W. 79th is actually getting an independent sweets shop called Sugar & Plumm Purveyors of Yumm, which plans to open sometime this fall. In other words, yum will indeed be purveyed, just not of the Dylan's variety.
