Dagny & Barstow's Retro Chandelier; Vera Wang's Trunk Shows

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

THE BOWERY—Over on Bowery and Prince, the ladies behind incoming boutique Dagny & Barstow are still digging out their space from under piles of seven-year-old nightlife grime. The spot used to be Kos, a club owned by Lenny Kravitz and Denzel Washington, but it's been vacant since the bar closed in 2004. Right now, standout features include a green chandelier, a mirror that still bears the tracks of lines somebody snorted during the Bush administration, and a secret back chamber upholstered in purple. (It's called the Kittybox, obvs.) But the rooms have great bones, at least to our untrained eye, and they're surprisingly big. We're excited to see what co-founders Meredith Blank and Emily Titelman plan to do with it. [RackedWire]

UPPER EAST SIDE—Vera Wang is previewing her spring 2012 bridal collection with a series of trunk shows at her store at 991 Madison Avenue. They run from Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28, but if you're interested, make an appointment now: 212-628-3400. [Racked Inbox]
