Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This is the time of year when Ralph Lauren's family suddenly swells to a hundred times its size, and all sorts of long-lost friends come crawling out of the woodwork—which is to say that it's time for the brand's highly exclusive biannual sale. Yesterday was open only to employees, yet a line still formed outside Soiffer Haskin. Today, the circle widens to include friends and family, though you'll still need a shopping pass to get in. Sample Sally reports lots of deals for under $50, though she cautions that only sample sizes are available. If you've got the hookup or you're feeling lucky, head to 317 West 33rd Street before 5pm today.
