New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

We've long been followers of Mister Mort, the style-conscious blog put forth by Mister Mordechai Rubinstein. His style is eclectic yet consistent, his format is plain and simple, and his content is extremely visual, all in the service of helping guys dress well. Screw the trends—we're talking about longevity here. His store of choice is Made With Rest, and while the location is hard to come by, we have the magic digits you need to get inside. Keep in mind, it's by appointment only. Ready? 212-941-0594. You can thank us later.—Yale Breslin
I'd say MWR. Michael opened up a shop called Made With Rest. He makes his own shoes with an old English shoemaker and sometimes he collaborates with various designers. If you're lucky enough to get an appointment, you will not be disappointed. Michael primarily designs jewelry like black and white diamond rings for fellas, but also has an extensive clothing offering. Pendeen mesh tank tops from England and chambray shorts made in the top, most talked-about suit factory in NY. If you can't get in, you will only find his clothing or shoes at Nepethes on 38th Street.· Mister Mort [Official Site]
