Next week, New York's supply of Madewell doubles when the J.Crew spin-off opens its Flatiron District store. Located at 115 Fifth Avenue, it'll sit less than two blocks from the Flatiron J.Crew, which just reopened in the midst of a major makeover. The shop will be slightly larger than the Soho location, which has been selling Madewell's hipster-next-door looks on Broadway since February 2008. Back then, Madewell was just a scarf-heavy experiment, but three years and one major Alexa Chung endorsement later, it's finally come out from under the shadow of its preppy sibling.
