There's no question that helmets are a necessity when it comes to navigating the mean streets (er, bike lanes, if available) of New York City. But there always is the question and fear of looking totally dorky in some neon aerodynamic number. Well, thank goodness for our sister site Racked National in bringing our attention to Yakkay, Danish purveyors of bike helmets that look like hats. These functional and life-preserving toppers come in styles and patterns—from nubby tweeds to stripey fedoras to hipster-friendly plaid hunting-chic—and run from $120 to $140, plus shipping. Not so into the added shipping costs? Well, fear not hipster bikers, a Yakkay pop-up is slated to hit New York in July. Watch out, Brooklyn! We have our eye on the fedora number. [Racked]
