Almost two years ago, we spotted a listing for the Morrison Hotel gallery next to John Varvatos on the Bowery. The storefront's broker told us he'd gotten interest from retailers and restaurateurs, but the gallery remained where it was—for the time being.
Now, the Post's Steve Cuozzo reports that The Max's Kansas City Co, which netleases the space, is looking for a new tenant. The ideal renter would take over both the 3,300-square-foot gallery location and Extra Place, the secret performance spot in the basement. According to one source, the company wants to bring in someone with a retail concept that takes advantage of the historic Bowery location, which sounds like a restaurant or bar to us, although of course Varvatos has managed to do exactly that with the CBGB's spot next door.
