Artist Merijn Hos Doodles Inside Bloomingdale's Windows

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Day one of the Leifsdottir festivities at Bloomingdale's has begun! Stroll by the Third Avenue portion of the store and see illustrator Merijn Hos whipping up the window display for Leifsdottir's debut shoe collection. Even though it's still a work in progress, we were able to take a some snaps when we stopped by this afternoon—and even got a few smiles and a wave from the artist. The live-installation will take place for the remainder of the day, as well as tomorrow, and it's followed by a special shopping event: On Thursday, when you buy a pair of shoes, you can also snag a chance to meet the designer, Johanna Uurasjarvi, and receive a tote bearing a design by Hos. Tamer than the YSL Manifesto tote extravaganza, we're sure, but none the less exciting.—Tiffany Yannetta
