Kick It: Customize Your Own Pair of New Balance 574s

New, 3 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Tomorrow, New Balance will launch a brand new microsite that will allow you to customize your very own pair of the brand's sneaker staple, the 574, from top to bottom. Aside from just picking out color, the process also involves customizing the sole, the stitching, the color of the "N" logo, and if you want, embroidering a word or phrase of your choice on the back. (Our vote's for "eat my dust.")

No matter how crazy you decide to go, the shoes will only set you back about a hundred bucks and only take one to two weeks to arrive. And since good news comes in twos, we hear that a lease has been signed for a still-undisclosed Flatiron location, which will mark the sneaker chain's first Manhattan store.—Tiffany Yannetta
