New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some of the city's shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic island (and beyond) that we might not all know about. Cue The Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Co-founder of The Coveteur Stephanie Mark may be based in Toronto, but that doesn't mean she can't navigate her way around New York City—after all, she spent a few years in our hometown honing in on her fashion career. She says the secret behind making clothes look like absolute perfection in photo shoots (besides a slew of pins and clamps) is a killer tailor. And luckily, she found her main man in the West Village. He goes by the name of Jack. Hong Kong Tailor Jack.
"Hong Kong Tailor Jack is the absolute best! If you are ever in a bind (skirts need shortening, pant need hemming, fixing late night party-induced tears) this is the place to go. Their service is impeccable and if you ask really really nicely (repeatedly helps too), they can get it done with a really quick turnaround. If you have more time, they are also great at making clothes. Bring in your favorite pants and they will replicate them flawlessly, but at 1/3 of the price. It really doesn't get much better than that."
"While on shoots, it seems like this hidden West Village diamond is the go-to tailor for the New York fashion set. I can't even begin to count how many times this tailor-to-the-stars has been mentioned...and with glowing reviews. While I'm not one to take anyone's comments to heart (without testing it out myself), I can hands-down attest that Jack is one hell of a master. Check my wardrobe if you don't believe me."—Yale Breslin
