In lieu of RackedWire today, we're going to wrap up with the live report coming in from a Racked spy at the Creatures of Comfort sale, which began at 5pm in Soho and promised 90% off such cool-kid labels as Acne, Isabel Marant, and APC. The short version, from what we could decipher via our envoy's texts: It is a serious shitshow in there.
The long version: The sale, at the Puffin Room, features about twelve racks of womenswear and one rack for men. The men's stuff is, says our spy, "mostly blah." Brands include Unis (heavy woven button-downs and striped twill denim for $119 down from $238), Acne (shirting in washed denim), and Hope.
The women's section features the house label, Kain, Karen Walker, Rachel Comey, Emma Cook, and Isabel Marant. Creatures of Comfort's twill boyfriend top is $85 (from $285), and their polka dot bolero is $120 (from $391). VPL panties are $15 (from $126), a beaded shearling Marant jacket is $966 (from $3,220), and a Karen Walker balloon-print ruffle top is $50 (from $341). Our spy also reports some "HIDEOUS" APC sample dresses in cornflower blue with lace-up bodices.
The line to pay is 40 people deep, and the space is so packed that every photo we got looked like it was taken inside a mosh pit. Our correspondent heard someone mutter "This gives sample sales a bad name," but the prices do seem pretty good. This one might be for hardened sale veterans only.
