MIDTOWN—Manolo Blahnik has designed a pair of stilettos to celebrate the debut of new Broadway musical "Priscilla Queen of the Desert," based on the 90's movie about drag queens on a road trip in Australia. Obviously, Manolo Blahnik does not need a specific reason to design heels based on an Australian drag-queen movie. But he has one: In the show, Priscilla and friends travel in a tour bus topped with a giant shoe. As for the actual footwear, it will be available at the Manolo flagship on 54th Street starting March 21. The price is $745, and a chunk of the proceeds go to the New York Restoration Project. If you're interested, do read this T magazine interview with Mr. Blahnik, in which he admits that he makes a mean Sophia Loren. [T]
NEW YORK CITY—Housing Works has kicked off its annual Spring Preview, a series of shopping events featuring their latest haul of gently-used designer merchandise. This year's goodies include Miu Miu wedges for $100 (were $520), a Burberry trench for $150 (was $1200), and a Marc Jacobs bag for $225 (was $1100.) Members get free entry, non-members pay $10 at the door, and as usual, all proceeds go to help those living with HIV. [Racked Inbox]
