Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Pricey multi-design chain Intermix just inked a deal for its sixth Manhattan location at 812 Washington Street in the Meatpacking District. If this sounds vaguely familiar, it might be because pricey multi-designer chain Scoop has already established not one, not two, not three, but four locations in the neighborhood. Don't get too excited about a retail catfight, though—the stores cater to roughly the same customer, even if Intermix is a little dressier and more expensive, so ideally they'll just complement each other.

The new space is big—1,885 square feet on the bottom floor, 240 square feet on the mezzanine, and 600 more square feet on the basement level. It's part of a retail complex that will also include apartments-turned-stores on Washington Street and, eventually, a 9,130-square-foot monster of a shop in what is now a parking garage. Look for Intermix to open in August 2011.
