"Peace and quiet" isn't necessarily the best phrase to throw around when talking about the Meatpacking District, but the new Rebecca Taylor boutique on Gansevoort Street provides a little sartorial R&R from all the neighborhood fuss. The new shop is double the space of the Nolita location, with plenty of silk, chiffon, eyelets and frill to wrap around the entire perimeter. It's also immaculately maintained—you probably will feel a little guilty walking on the carpet with your shoes on. But this is Meatpacking, and you are allowed to let loose: when we stopped by for a visit, we could (faintly) hear a Girl Talk mash-up playing in the background.
Garden party-esque dresses and delicate tops adhere to Boutique 101—two of each item is displayed, sizes two and four—and other items, like shoes, bags, and even fresh flowers are placed quietly in wall nooks. But the back end of the store is really your safe haven: lush carpet, two tempting chairs, and best of all, merchandise that 's currently 40% off.—Tiffany Yannetta
