Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Two weeks ago, Time Out New York listed 32 locals in its Most Stylish New Yorkers issue. Now, Stylecaster has compiled its own round-up of the best-dressed people in the city, but they seem to be describing a completely different New York. Unlike TONY, which drew from a range of outlandishly-attired bloggers and stylists, Stylecaster focused on people who are firmly established in the industry: Models, Vogue editors, Simon Doonan. They shot them in big, glossy, magazine-style editorials, and asked them for their favorite New York stores, books, movies, and TV shows. (Memo to everyone on the list other than Olivia Palermo: Good job not mentioning Sex in the City.)

So what conclusions can we draw from these two totally different groups of the city's most ostensibly stylish people? Well, three people did wind up in both publications: DJ Becka Diamond, stylist Lori Goldstein, and blogger Leandra "Man Repeller" Medine. Either they have great PR, or their style is indisputable.
