Fifi Chachnil Says "Bonjour, Sexy" to Bond Street

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We all need a little ooh la la in our lives once in a while, and the Fifi Chachnil pop-up inside Noho's Bond 07 gives us just the right amount. The Parisian line of lingerie is known for its retro Gallic pin-up girl glamor, and the set-up in the front of the shop creates just the right mood. With a delectable macaron-pink backdrop, ladylike boudoir décor, captivating chansons playing in the background, and an authentic French shopgirl with delightful Edith Piaf pin-curls, we felt like we were reveling in our own little slip of Paris.

On the racks, shoppers will find a charming collection of underthings (some that can also be worn as over-things) that rouse just the right amount of sexiness, while still managing to be elegant and innocently feminine. We thought the pink and black polka-dot set was just adorbs—the bra with a black tulle overlay (sans underwire) is $168, the matching thong with baby-pink bow is $97 and a completely see-through black lace romper (we're assuming you wear the first two items underneath) is $240. On the same rack, we admired a black lace and pink silk corset with lovely delicately striped ruffle detail for $235 (sort of a racy-Downton Abbey-chic, if it's OK to use a British reference, that is).

There were additional sets in colors or themes, like black silk under-wire bustier numbers with classic blue ribbon accoutrements, a bold devil-red collection with contrasting stark white lace, and pretty, feminine white and pink confections.

For those who wish to wear Fifi Chachnil but aren't quite ready to take the sexy lingerie plunge, there will be fragrance available in the near future. The US pricing is not available yet, but the European pricing starts at 42 Euro for a purse spray. To round out the complete Fifi Chachnil experience, there are also Fifi CDs available for just $10.

Just a note of caution: There are also a couple racks of Fall 2011 samples located near the front of the shop. We fell in love with the more substantial (read: less revealing) peachy and creamy pointelle boy shorts and camis, but alas, those are unavailable for now. The pop-up will remain for the next three months, so drop into Bond 07 for a little taste of old-school Pah-ree.
