Last year, when Alexis Bittar plastered his ad campaign across the city during New York Fashion Week, we were exposed to the one and only Joan Collins (or Alexis Carrington Colby for those diehard Dynasty fans) rocking Mr. Bittar's baubles and gems, looking every inch of the hotel-living great dame she is. Now, with New York Fashion Week once again upon us, Bittar has done it again, this time nabbing equally fabulous Lauren Hutton as the face of his jewels.
The two met over 20 years ago when the designer was hustling his goods on Spring Street in Soho, trying to make a name for himself. Hutton describes her first impression to WWD: "This handsome and energetic kid, so young you couldn't believe he actually designed it. His jewelry is like art and still doesn't look like anything I have ever seen." Flash forward many years, and the two have reunited, this time with the help of photographer Jack Pierson. Following in Collins' footsteps, Hutton is captured in picturesque black and white, sporting a sophisticated yet cheeky smirk, while looking like the Americana icon that she has come to be. Is it too soon to start thinking about who Bittar will feature next? Place your bets.—Yale Breslin
